RAICO Engineered Air Knife Systems are providing alternatives for a host of maintenance intensive methods, needed for continuous coating control, that have been used throughout industry for decades. With our precise, fully adjustable, non-contact, Air Knife Systems, manufacturers are achieving optimum coating thickness and at higher speeds than ever before for conveyor widths from 20 mm to 2000 mm and almost any coating liquid viscosity.
Eliminating squeegee rolls and scraper blades are the most common application.
You will no longer have the maintenance costs associated with cleaning, adjusting and/or replacing the rollers and scrapers.
A significant benefit is that a RAICO Air Knife System delivers clean, dry, oil and dirt free air at higher than ambient temperatures, to further improve the coated product, and accelerate the coating drying process as well.
Replace compressed air or other low efficiency blowers, connected to air knife designs, which are not ideally suited for effective coating control applications, and simply cost far too much to operate.
A typical 1200 mm coated product could require up to 30 Kw of compressed air, to do what a our 7.5 Kw blower will do.
Compressed air also has high costs associated with the after coolers, dryers and extra filtration.

Strips of Copper / Brass/ other metals pass through water bath to cool after resizing /rerolling.

         After water bath cooling, these strips needs drying, before processing further like coiling , coating , printing, plating etc.

         Conventionally such drying is being done with Compressed Air assisted Air Wipe / Thermal drying/Squeeze Rolls or some homemade crude devices.

Introduction

In modern times, with an ever increasing demand for all goods, high speed production lines are becoming norms of the day.

Some of other concerns of modern day production lines are cost effectiveness, better quality, better hygiene, better self life, better packaging, better appearance, faster production, lesser handling, lesser pollution, interfacing with other production inputs etc.

To address these demands there are variety of innovative tools available.

Among them, Ring Blower assisted Air Knife, is one such tool, which has made difference in many fields and constantly finding new applications.

Ring Blower assisted Air Knife System is a non contact method of removing unwanted surface liquid, moisture, dirt, coatings, contamination, debris, heat, static charge etc during manufacturing process of predominantly conveyed (moving) articles or parts.

Ring Blower assisted Air Knife System is powered by medium pressure air from blower, devices a continuous Laminar Sheet / Stream/Curtain of precisely controlled High Velocity Air. This Sheet/Stream/Curtain of high velocity air push the liquid from the surface of the article/product and residual moisture is shattered from the article/product.This mist is carried away by continuous stream of air.


This Sheet/Stream/Curtain of High Velocity Air also blows away debris, clean surfaces, dissipates heat, spreads / dries coatings, takes away static charges, protects surface etc

Medium pressure Ring Blower assisted Air Knife System has number of advantages over compressed air type. This comparison is shown separately.

One of the prime applications areas of Ring Blower assisted Air Knife is Drying such as in food and vegetable packaging, beverage bottle/cans drying, parts/paper/sheet/glass drying etc.

Drying of product surfaces is done with high velocity air sheet/stream/curtain pushing the liquid from the surface and residual moisture shattered by stream of air.

In many existing set ups, drying is done with crudely fabricated pipe with holes/slits, out of which compressed air is allowed to come out to dry. This is one of most ineffective and costly and noisy method.

Other more frequently used method is Thermal Drying. Again this is high energy consuming method and has number of disadvantages. Like high temperature drying heats the parts and raises surrounding temperature. Hence additional cost is incurred to cool parts and surroundings. Further this will slow down the system.

RAICO is changing the way debris removal and static control is being handled. With ever increasing production speeds, greater part complexities and more stringent contamination controls, the low velocity fans and high velocity compressed air devices are no longer the favoured air supply for these applications. Customers are demanding more effectiveness and lower operating costs.
Our high velocity air knives coupled with properly sized air ionizing bars are answering the call.
Low velocity fan designs are not effective for an increasing number of today’s higher product speeds and complex part geometries that manufacturers must blow off debris from, while creating a static neutral part surface.
With RAICO’S 10,000 to 40,000 FPM air knife velocities, we can be as gentle or aggressive, at debris removal, as the application requires.
Compressed air powered knives, can require up to 4 times more Hp, than a blower assisted air knife system.
We will size the blower assisted air knife system and ionizer to maximize efficiency.
HEPA filters ensure that we clean the surface of the part with air that won’t compromise the customer’s cleanliness specification. Most fan driven air knives and ionizing bars that have HEPA filters are on the inlet of the fan. The result is that a rotating piece of machinery (the fan) is located after the HEPA and will compromise the entire clean air circuit at some point in time.
